Jacksonville Flood Zone MapIf you are a home owner or even a renter it would be important to know if you are in a flood zone. What is a flood zone? Flood hazard areas identified on the Flood Insurance Rate Map are identified as a Special Flood Hazard Area (SFHA). More on Flood Zones at FEMA.gov.

In this chart FEMA gives a breakdown of the different flood zones.

In general there are four types of Flood Zones:

  • Moderate to Low Risk Areas
    In communities that participate in the NFIP, flood insurance is available to all property owners and renters in these zones.
  • High Risk Areas
    In communities that participate in the NFIP, mandatory flood insurance purchase requirements apply to all of these zones.
  • High Risk – Coastal Areas
    In communities that participate in the NFIP, mandatory flood insurance purchase requirements apply to all of these zones.
  • Undetermined Risk Areas
    These zones have not been determined.
